Foundations and rules of forensic photography

: -The rules and principles of forensic photography

The importance of forensic photography is not less than any other specialization in forensic evidence, and therefore an independent department for forensic photography was established because of its importance in forensic evidence and the fact that all departments do not dispense with forensic photography, but there are rules and foundations for this science that must be learned and summarized for you in the following

 Professionalism and Experience

Forensic photography is not just a hobby or amusement, or the same as photography for other purposes, such as media, or occasional photography or other or amateur photography, and the one who undertakes criminal photography must be a professional expert who is familiar with criminal photography.

Full-time

Anyone who performs criminal photography must be free to photograph and do not perform any other duties or actions while performing photography and does not combine two tasks simultaneously except when absolutely necessary in the event of a lack of a crime scene team and a lack of experts in other disciplines.

Choosing the right angles and locations: When conducting the normal amateur shooting, the selection of angles and locations does not take into account the shots are taken randomly, but in the criminal photography we must consider the choice of the right angle and location for each photo whether the shot is general for the crime scene or for the impact or for the wound and stay away from the corners and locations Which does not show the effect or injury as it is, and the general shot angle differs from the angle of the close or medium shot of the impact or wound, and sometimes pictures are taken from inappropriate corners and locations that show the impact or wound larger or smaller than its normal size, or cause the effect to be shown in a way other than its true form.

Using rulers

Of course, there are many types of rulers used in forensic photography and various forms that contain measurements that show the length and width of the impact, whether the effect is at the crime scene or on the body. Clear for impact and measurement.

Taking general pictures of the crime scene as it was the moment the team arrived and before entering the crime scene or taking any actions by the team

It clarifies the general situation of the crime scene that it is and the general images must be multiple and be from all sides with different angles and different distances, and it is preferable that one of the public pictures be vertically for the theater if possible.

Take three clips for the effect-

Long-term, medium-term, and near-term image should be captured for a single effect.

 Repeating images

Anyone who performs criminal photography should not adhere to a specific number of general or impact images, and he must photograph the largest number of images for a single effect, but the diversity in choosing the angles and locations of the images must be taken into account, as the same shots are not repeated for the same effect from the same angle and location, so do not skimp on the pictures. Pictures with diversification and when returning to books sort the pictures and choose the best, accurate and closest to reality.

Choosing cameras

Using a good type digital camera according to the available capabilities, and if a digital imaging camera is not available, the mobile phone is used after checking the settings in the phone's camera and choosing the appropriate mode for imaging according to the time and place and picking up spare batteries if the type of camera that operates on dry batteries and pick up the camera charger If it is the type that recharges its battery.

: - When conducting forensic photography at the crime scene or

Mental and psychological presencein the hospital, the imaging expert must be present mentally and not distracted and focus his focus on the screen of the camera and does not take the photo except after ensuring its accuracy and its containment of all the area to be photographed with the effects and clarity of the effects The one in it and not distracting the mind and thinking about topics, tasks or other actions focus on the image and shift your eyesight from the screen until you are sure to capture it in the correct and required way.

Total and not only partial imaging

When filing a criminal in any incident or accident, whether in killing and inspecting corpses or crimes of assault on money, property, bombings, or other criminal facts, accidental or non-criminal incidents, we see some workers in criminal evidence from junior technicians photographing the part of the injury or The impact of the attack. For example, in corpses, it is sufficient to photograph the part of the injury, for example, a head injury, it is sufficient to photograph the entrance and exit of the projectile in the head and depict the corpse with a general picture with the clothes, but shots are not taken of the upper parts and the ambassador from the front and the front and bottom parts in the back. In shooting incidents on cars, homes and properties, it is sufficient Filming the location of penetration or collision with the projectile and does not photograph cars and vehicles from all sides. At the crime scene, it is sufficient to photograph the impact alone and does not link it to other effects. Special focus in corpses should be on photographing every part of the body separately, even if it does not have visible injuries. Sometimes the kimra sees and sees money The eye sees it, and you may document an effect that you did not see when previewing. When reviewing the photos, you find the effect and this effect may help you reach important results after D to ensure the presence of the impact on the body.

Photography on the basis that what is available to you now will not be available to you tomorrow

This means that there are traces that may disappear with the passage of time and you will not be able to re-shoot at another time, especially at the crime scene, as well as in corpses. There are traces that disappear or change due to the cooling and the passage of time and sometimes the corpse will not get another opportunity to be photographed, either for reasons of burial by the people or For security reasons or other reasons.

Self-reliance and not to authorize others to take pictures

Sometimes some employees in the criminal evidence are entrusted with others to carry out their tasks by taking some pictures thinking that this person will photograph the effect or take the shot as he wants and when he returns to the office and reviewing the pictures he finds that there are traces he saw and recorded, but it was not photographed or that the photos are inaccurate as required when he gets injured Disappointed and deeply regretted and the great calamity if it was not possible to re-photograph the disappearance or tampering with the effects.

And in the last, I loved criminal photography, which is a science in itself and an art that is not good for everyone, and what I mentioned here about the most important rules and foundations is not considered an integrated study or research, but it is considered an introduction or addition to other studies and research that other experts have preceded me and I am quite sure that I did not fully surround the subject and there is a lot in this field.
